Because a student who lets a machine do the thinking hasn't learned.
 

We teach kids to drive before handing them the keys. AI should be no different. The question is whether RPS students will graduate as drivers or passengers of AI.
 

The real danger is work that looks like learning. Grades that look like progress. Meanwhile the struggle that was the education is getting quietly outsourced. Guardrails exist to protect the difficulty, because the difficulty is the curriculum.
 

On the board, I'll:

• Oppose any AI adoption that costs a single hour of staff time in the classroom. AI can serve teachers. It will not replace them. Not one FTE hour.

• Defend an AI policy with clear rules for when AI use is instruction and when it's evasion, written with teachers, not handed down to them.

• Hold every AI purchase to the same standard as every other dollar: show your line of sight to a student, or don't get bought.
   

Powerful tools deserve driver's ed. Our kids should graduate holding the wheel.
